Simple Ways to Cure Acid Reflux (GERD)
Acid reflux is often recognized by a burning sensation in the chest. But, in order to recognize GERD a few other things can be common symptoms as well. GERD, which stands for gastro esophageal reflux disease can be associated with heartburn, loss of appetite and difficulty swallowing. If left untreated, GERD can lead to more harmful things like ulcers and cancer of the esophagus.
Treatment for acid reflux can vary from one person to the next, but there are a variety of natural home remedies that can help stop acid reflux from happening. For immediate relief, try drinking a glass of water with a teaspoon of baking soda mixed in. This will allow some of the gas in your stomach to release, thus stopping the acid burning feeling you may experience. It is also said that monitoring your diet and eliminating anything that you know causes reflux is a great idea. Obvious things like reducing the amount of coffee or alcohol you consume, and staying away from spicy foods are easy natural remedies to curing acid reflux symptoms. Keep a close eye on what bothers you most, and you may be able to come up with your own treatment for acid reflux.
Of course, none of these home remedies should be used without first consulting with your doctor. In some cases, acid reflux may not be cured by home remedies alone. Finding the right methods of treatment paired with acid reflux medication may be necessary. Consider trying natural treatments first, but if that alone doesn’t ease your discomfort, consult your physician to further explore acid reflux medications.
